APPLICATIONS ON DISTRICT 7

STUDENT iPADS (Grade 3-5)

 

OWA for the iPad.  MS365 (Office 365) app for mail and calendar.  You can find a great deal of tutorials/how-to videos by clicking the icon that takes you to related resources in our 7Ignites filing cabinet.  Spartanburg 7 staff also have access to Pajama PD for this app.

KEYNOTE is part of Apple's iWork productivity suite.  A full functioning presentation app (similar to Power Point), users can create slide shows that can be shared across Apple devices and even viewed in Power Point.  Click the icon to learn how to use Keynote on the iPad.

PAGES is part of Apple's iWork productivity suite.  A full functioning word processor for the iPad, Pages documents can be shared between iPad and Mac operating system devices or converted to PDF or Word files.

ONEDRIVE is Microsoft's hard drive in the cloud that lets you store documents, pictures and videos and then share them with students and other Spartanburg 7 staff.  Using OneDrive is a great way for students to share their assignments safely and securely.  

EDMODO a student learning management system (LMS).  Teachers can create/strictly monitor groups, post assignments, share documents and create quizzes in this "Facebook type environment".  Click the icon to learn more.  Click HERE for how-to do a student iPad setup. iBOOKS is a place to store downloaded and store e-books, interactive textbooks and related documents including PDFs, epubs and those created in iBooks Author.  Click on the icon to get started on how to use iBooks on the iPad

iTunes U  (from Apple's webiste: a dedicated section of Apple's iTunes Music Store that features educational audio and video files from universities, museums and public media organizations for free download to PCs and mobile devices." Click the icon to learn more. 

MICROSOFT ONENOTE  is a digital notebook that can be used by students to take notes, keep a filing cabinet or portfolio.  It integrates with other Microsoft apps.  Click on the icon to find some tutorials on OneNote app basics (remember to authentic your lightspeed to view the embedded videos in this blog!). 

iMOVIE is Apple's video editing software program that allows a user to pull together video, photos and audio to create movies.  Click on the icon to view a comprehensive full-length (47 minute) video tutorial that will give you pro director's status in  no time at all! 

QRAFTER is a QR code reader.  QR codes are similar to bar codes and a QR reader scans these codes that can be connected to all kinds of content including documents, websites, emails, videos, etc.  It's a great way to provide content to students.  Click on the icon to view a short how-to document on how to use Qrafter 

SKITCH an app that allow a user to capture, mark up and annotate images, PDFs and even maps.  You can use images from your photo album, from the web or create them in SKITCH from scratch.   Click the icon for step by step instructions for beginners on using the app on the iPad

EDUCREATIONS another whiteboard app where users can record their iPad screen, add annotations, photos and handwriting to create shareable video recordings.  A great tool for flipping the classroom!  Click on the icon to view a basic tutorial on how to use the app

NEARPOD create interactive presentations & push them out to mobile devices.  Control the presentation & get immediate student feedback using different types of formative assessment strategies. Nearpod has several guides to assist in using it in the classroom.  Click on the icon to access the guides. 

iBRAINSTORM Use available graphic organizers or freeform your ideas and then share them easily between iPads.  Click on the icon for a quick 2 minute overview of using the app.

KNOWMIA TEACH is a great app for teachers looking to flip classroom content.  Choose from over 30,000 free lesson or create your own.  Click on the icon to access several video tutorials that will take you, step by step, through the process of creating flipped content as well as exlempary samples

Animoto is a cloud-based video creation service that produces video from photos, video clips and music in to video slideshows.  Click on the icon to learn how to create a teacher account.  

QUIZLET  allows users to create digital flash cards and study them in a variety of ways.  Teachers can create classes and share flashcards with students.  Click the icon for step by step instructions for beginners on using the app on the iPad

SOCRATIVE  allows teachers to give quick, interactive formative assessments including quizzes, polls, exit tickets and even 'space races'.   Click the icon for Mastery Connect's Socrative User's Guide

SUBTEXT  enables teachers to access and save reading content in one place & share nearly anything read digitally. Subtext also enables teachers to save, share, and engage with students in PDFs. Click the icon for a beginner's guide.

GOOGLE SEARCH   Students can conduct Google searches from this app, which is already set to Safe Search.  Click on the icon for a step by step PDF document that will take you step by step on using the app to do an appropriate images search. 

 POPPLET is a visual organizer where students can create graphic organizers, timelines and other forms of visual organization.  Click on the icon to learn how to create a Popplet using the iPad app

Classworks is cloud-based math and reading software for personalized learning.  Currently adopted for grades K-8.  Click on the icon to visit Classworks' wide array of teacher learning materials from beginner to advanced.

Spelling City is a game-based learning tool where students study spelling words in an engaging way.  Click on the icon to view Spelling City's teaching resources.
